Glass Studio Demos - Free!

Okay, glass. Big deal, right? At least that's what I thought until my daughter hounded me enough to take her to the free demonstration of the Glass Studio at the Chrysler Museum of Art. I was absolutely blown away at how interesting and interactive it is. My girls loved it too, as the actual artists are there creating beautiful glassworks right in front of your eyes. They 1000degree kiln also makes it interesting. It's not a rote script either. They basically change the artwork every time they host a demonstration session, which is from noon to 1am every Wed through Sunday. On the third Wed of every month, they do it in the evening and combine it with a noted musician and adult beverages. My Sunday class was so interesting that I convinced my husband to go to the Wed evening performance, and I was blown away at how much fun it was. You must try this. It is a gem of a thing to do in Hampton Roads.

I'm not much into art, especially glass art. But this was free and I thought the kids would enjoy it. Boy, did they! The artists blowing the glass were very interactive and it is extremely interesting to watch a two thousand year old art happen in such a modern setting. Definitely recommend giving this a try.
