Jamestown to Scotland Ferry

Description:

Half the fun of Jamestown is the journey getting there. Our kids love the Scotland to Jamestown ferry, and so do I, because it's free, it's fun, and it's an elegant way to travel. The ferry leaves every half hour from Scotland and literally drops you off right next to the Historic Jamestown visitor center. The ride last for approximately 20 minutes, and while it would probably be faster to take I-64, it isn't nearly as scenic or as fun. We met some wonderful people in the cabin who were visiting from England. We got up close and personal with a colony of cormorants. And best of all, it was easy to imagine what the Jamestown landing looked like to the original settlers as you approached the point where the Susan B Constant, the Godspeed, and the Discovery are all docked. The ferry service runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so there is always and opportunity to cross!

I had no idea that this ferry even existed. What a beautiful way to travel to Jamestown, and for free. Thank you for posting this.
